Pre-Orient Head
The optional PTF Pre-Orient Head allows components to be rotated prior to transfer into the GSM platform. Each of the components picked by the PTF can be rotated 0°, 90°, 180°, or 270° based on the information held within the UPS Component Database. The PTF Pre-Orient Head increases throughput by eliminating time required for a GSM Placement Head to rotate components. With the PTF Pre-Orient Head, theta rotations are completed before the GSM platform picks the component from the PTF Transfer Belt.
Universal’s optional Platform Tray Feeder (PTF), Model 4559A, is a 58-input stackable matrix tray feeder for GSM platforms, which increases flexibility, improves line performance, and maximizes throughput.
The PTF is flexible. It features 29 pallets, each configurable with up to two unique component types. Up to 58 different leaded and area-array components can be fed to the GSM platform. If desired, one of the pallets can be defined for component purge or reject, reducing usable pallets to 28 x 56 inputs. While a single PTF provides all these benefits, a second PTF expands flexibility even further. Beyond the additional 58 inputs gained from a second PTF, dual PTFs provide several modes of operation to match production requirements.
The PTF is efficient. Rather than just one matrix tray at a time, the PTF can support stacks of matrix trays. This capability significantly reduces tray replenishment requirements and increases throughput. And, the unique side-mounting scheme of the PTF maximizes floor space utilization without interfering with adjacent production lines. The PTF may be optionally configured to present components at rotations of 0°, 90°, 180°, or 270° for pick by the GSM platform to increase machine throughput.
The PTF is fast. While many other matrix tray feeders waste time by presenting the entire tray or just a couple of components to the pick and place head, the PTF can present up to 7 components to the GSM head. The independent PTF pick and place axes buffer components for the next cycle in the GSM platform. In parallel, the GSM platform gang picks components (simultaneously picks multiple components) previously queued on the PTF transfer belt. The PTF features user programmable servocontrolled pallet and transfer belt motions to provide optimal component handling speed.
In consideration of essential health and safety requirements, the PTF is CE-marked.
